DOES NBR MONITOR THE MUSIC THE RESIDENTS LISTEN TO?

Yes, as closely as such an issue can be monitored.  We try to limit the amount of negative influences, such as use of illegal drugs, alcohol use, anti-authority themes, casual attitudes about illicit sex, etc.  Therefore, this philosophy is carried out in rules on music, clothing, posters, everyday living, video games, movies etc.  Any medium that promotes any of the above ideals, we will attempt to monitor.

Even though we don’t try to single out any special type of music, hard rock and rap are the most controversial due to the themes some groups promote.  All items brought to the ranch must be approved by the Direct Care Staff.
Personal tapes and CD’s are restricted at NBR.  This area is one of the most controversial (from the resident’s point of view) and one of the most difficult to enforce (from NBR’s point of view).  Because of this situation, it is extremely helpful for NBR to have parental support on this issue.  Please instruct your child to leave all tapes and CD’s at home.  As a means of enforcing this rule NBR reserves the right to inspect a resident’s room anytime we have reason to believe he could have any items that are against the rules (i.e. tapes, CD’s, tobacco, drugs and alcohol.)

"Leg-Up" -- In life at some point in time most everyone will need a leg-up. It may simply mean a hug, a pat-on-the-back or sometimes help that only a professional can provide. The Nebraska Boy's Ranch is here to help provide that "LEG-UP" with a safe home environment for boys in need and to provide adult living skills for their future!
