CAN I, OR SHOULD I, SEND MONEY TO HIM?

As a general rule, NBR prefers that you not send money.  It is our philosophy that we need to work for whatever we have in life.  Often we find young men who do not understand that concept and find it easier to write or call home and have someone get them out of a tight financial problem.  The Ranch does have a work program where a resident can earn spending money.  We do have the residents pay for their own recreational activities (i.e. ball games, movies, skating,) so if “they don’t work, they don’t play.”  This does not mean you can’t send small amounts of money for a special occasion such as their birthday so they could buy themselves a gift.  However, it is preferable that a gift be sent.  Larger amounts of money will be placed directly in a savings account, or checking account, in his name and it will be his when he leaves NBR.  If any amount of money is being sent, NBR must be informed so we can be watching to see that he deposits it properly.  Unfortunately, when the residents have money we don’t know of, often it will be spent on items that are against the rules.

"Leg-Up" -- In life at some point in time most everyone will need a leg-up. It may simply mean a hug, a pat-on-the-back or sometimes help that only a professional can provide. The Nebraska Boy's Ranch is here to help provide that "LEG-UP" with a safe home environment for boys in need and to provide adult living skills for their future!
