Our Mission Statement

The Mission Statement of the Nebraska Boys Ranch is to provide a safe home environment for boys in need and to provide adult living skills for their future!

Preparation for Adult Living Skills - NBR teaches the boys many important and necessary skills for Adult Living.  To teach the boys a sense of managing their personal finances and develop pride, NBR has developed a system of real life money management.  It involves the following: wage tickets, time cards, paychecks, deposit slips, personal checking account number and checkbook, savings plans and budget development.  Money earned by the boys is kept in separate accounts and is spent only by the boy, and is not used for his basic needs.  There is also an Independent Living Program, in which a qualified boy may choose to live on his own in an apartment at the Ranch.  With this comes increased freedom but also increased responsibility.  Boys participating in this program are still a part of daily NBR activities and routines.
A PALS coordinator accompanies the boys with various Adult Living tasks such as grocery and clothes shopping to teach budgeting and financial responsibility. The boys are instructed in such areas as job searching, personal hygiene, living area upkeep, and other adult living skills.
